Pediatric Counselling (Age 4-12)
I’m Kelsey (she/her) with Carter’s Counselling! I specialize in working with children aged four to twelve years old. With a background in social work since 2017, I discovered my passion in supporting children and youth, especially those navigating trauma, abuse, family separation, anxiety, and complex family dynamics. My experience spans across various settings, including schools, community programs, supported living environments, and crisis intervention contexts. Drawing from my foundation in sociology, I put a strong emphasis on child development and interpersonal skills, enriching my practice with a holistic understanding of my clients' needs.
Operating from a trauma-informed approach, I value and recognize my clients' inherent strengths, working collaboratively to discover empowering solutions. I aim to always create and provide a secure and supportive environment within my practice, paving the way for meaningful therapeutic interventions and positive outcomes. Thank you for letting me be a part of your village!

Pediatric, Youth, Family, and Adult Counselling
Hi, I’m Steph! (she/her)! I am a registered social worker and have spent the past decade providing counselling services within a school setting. During this time, I have had the honor of supporting many precious humans from kindergarteners to young adults, as well as the important adults who hold them. My experience providing therapeutic services for children and families within the education setting shaped my passion for mental health and wellness. I am thrilled to begin a new chapter at The Village YXE and have the continued privilege of walking alongside individuals on their personal journeys of self-discovery.
My approach to counselling is holistic and neuro-affirming. I see humans as multi-faceted, and I believe in the importance of recognizing the interconnectedness of the many parts of us that make us who we are. I believe that self-awareness is the key to wellness. I am passionate about building self-awareness and capacity in those that I work with. I strive to compassionately approach all clients, with a sense of curiosity and a genuine desire to understand the roots of their emotions and the motivation behind their responses. I do this through various modalities from play therapy, art therapy, somatic therapy, emotionally focused therapy, as well as acceptance and commitment therapy. I also use internal family systems theory to bring compassion and understanding to the varying parts of self that may be influencing our responses. I am able to support individuals, as well as support the family unit as a whole. Regardless of the modality, of utmost importance is creating a safe space for clients to be authentically themselves. I believe in the importance of recognizing what is going on internally for every person and how it ties to what we can see on the outside. I believe that every single individual has what it takes to heal and to grow and that every person deserves to feel supported and given the opportunity to thrive.
Being present, caring, and compassionate are qualities I strive to embody not only as a counsellor, but as a mother and as a partner. Quality time with my family is what I value most. Simple moments that bring me gratitude are fresh baking, home cooked meals, family dinners, a heartfelt playlist, family games and our cats. I am drawn to the outdoors and feel the most grounded when adventuring and exploring nature. I believe caring for oneself is a prerequisite for caring for others. As such, I am intentional about my own wellness and view consistently working on myself as a foundational piece to being able to effectively support others.
I believe in the power of a village. For me, to be a part of a village means to be amongst people who encourage you to show up as your authentic self and support you. I am grateful for the many villages that I have been a part of and how that has shaped me into who I am today. Humans are wired for connection. We were not meant to walk this life alone and every person deserves a village. From the bottom of my heart thank you for allowing me the privilege of being a part of yours!

Individual Youth (Age 16-17), Adult, and Couples Counselling
Hello, I’m Jennifer (she/her)! I am a Registered Social Worker at The Village YXE supporting Adults and Youth (age 16-17). I graduated with my Social Work Degree in 1999 and have been a Registered Social Worker since 2005. Over the years I have worked with the Saskatchewan Health Authority in mental health and addictions as well as at the University of Saskatchewan Student Wellness Center supporting students. I am currently with Home Care on the Seniors First Team through SHA. Since May of 2019, I have also been working in private practice and am delighted to join the amazing practitioners at The Village YXE to continue this journey.
I use a variety of counselling methods to assist people in connecting with themselves, to offer a safe space to be able to see their own worth, to invite permission to implement boundaries based on their needs, and to build positive relationships in their world. I believe that a large component of caring for our Mental Health has foundation in my Fist Bump Concept: our sleep, our eating and fueling, our movement, our connections, and our comfort and soothing. I love what I do. I am honoured to hear people’s stories and be present with them as they shift their perspective of themselves and make room for their needs. I am always inspired by the stories of resilience, strength, and love that flourish despite hardships and trauma.
My areas of professional interest are: Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Family Dynamics, Emotions, Communication, Boundaries, Women’s Issues, Caregivers Support, Life Transitions (marriage, a new baby, parenting, separation, divorce, end of life), Coping Skills, Grief and Loss, Chronic Illness, Anxiety, Depression, Neurodiversity, Mindfulness, Stress Management, School and Work Stress, Healing from Abuse and Trauma. I will always do my very best to support you in clarifying issues, exploring options, and developing strategies that fit for you to implement. I use a combination of Trauma Informed Care, Strength Based Approach, Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy during the counselling process.
My Mother always used to say that it takes a Village to raise a child, and I have learned that it continues to take a Village to maintain an adult! I am so honored to be a part of your Village.
